CONTOURING WORKSHOPS

Improve your contouring skills under the direction of world experts!

Inconsistencies in contouring target and critical structures can seriously undermine the precision of conformal radiation therapy planning and are generally considered to be the biggest and most unpredictable source of errors in radiation oncology. At ESTRO 29 in Barcelona, 3 contouring sessions were organized to provide attendees with the opportunity for interactive training on contouring CTV, GTV and eventually OAR and to discuss their results with expert professionals.

The Barcelona sessions were quickly fully booked and evaluated very positively by the participants. The Scientific Committee of the London meeting as well as the ESTRO Education and Training committee therefore decided to repeat this very useful workshops and in May next year, 4 contouring workshops will be organised.

Each morning from Monday to Thursday, a contouring session will be organised from 08.00 till 10.00 on 4 different disease sites:

Monday 9 May 2011 from 08.00 – 10.00 Lung Cancer
Tuesday 10 May 2011 from 08.00 – 10.00 Rectal Cancer
Wednesday 11 May 2011 from 08.00 – 10.00 Head and Neck Cancer
Thursday 12 May 2011 from 08.00 – 10.00 Prostate Cancer

The aim will be to:
• Strengthen hands on contouring skills
• Discuss the intercomparison of the different delineated volumes of the 4 cases with experts in the field and colleagues from all over the world
• Promote the use of international guidelines

The workshops will be limited to 60 participants per day and participants can bring their own laptop to participate online. Don’t wait too long to register or you might discover the workshop you wanted to attend is already fully booked!
