Why physicists should attend the 2012 World Congress of Brachytherapy?
The World Brachytherapy Congress 2012 in Barcelona will be a unique opportunity for the exchange of knowledge between brachytherapy experts and those new to the field. In particular, medical physicists will benefit from many physics sessions covering interesting and state of the art topics. For example, there will be sessions on imaging modalities, dose-to-water-calibration, and robotics, as well as uncertainties in brachytherapy, the advantages and critical points in new dose calculation algorithms, as well as very pragmatic topics like the improvement of safety in brachytherapy. This is an ideal mixture of more sophisticated issues and practical elements that can be directly adapted in the home institute.
In parallel with the World Brachytherapy Congress is the ESTRO 31 Congress. This offers the opportunity to see brachytherapy set alongside external radiotherapy techniques. Attendees can easily switch between sessions and benefit from a global view in radiotherapy.
